Tottenham Hotspur's Worst XI Of The Decade: Gary Doherty and Ricardo Rocha

The back line of Tottenham Hotspur's Worst XI is finally finished. Joining Gilberto and Alan Hutton are Ricardo Rocha and Gary Doherty. Doherty and Rocha easily lapped the rest of the field in the voting for this position. I had imagined it would be much closer, but our miniature Portuguese defender and "Ginger Pele" were just too much for the competition.

As mentioned in our voting post Doherty fancied himself both a defender and a center forward, sort of a modern day John Charles. Unfortunately he was very poor at both positions, something it took Spurs quite a few years to realize. He scored a brilliant chip and an incredible diving header, both against his own goal keeper.

Rocha didn't appear in nearly as many games for Spurs as Doherty did, but he was equally (if not moreso) awful in those limited performances. His lack of height saw him constantly victimized by taller forwards. This, of course, was compounded by his lack of both strength and pace, which meant Spurs would have probably been just as well off had they chosen to play Chirpy (in full costume) in central defense.

This is undoubtedly the worst four defenders Tottenham Hotspur have had in the last decade and their inclusion ensures that the opposition will score quite a few goals.
