Harry Redknapp and Daniel Levy seem not to be very impressed by Luka Modric's latest move his ongoing attempt to force a move to Chelsea from Tottenham Hotspur. Last night Modric handed in a transfer request and this morning the club, or at least manager Harry Redknapp, has responded:
We know he wants to leave and whether he writes it down on a piece of paper doesn't really make any difference to our stance.
Some of us had hoped the club would take such a hardline stance on this issue, but I don't think any of us were expecting that sort of wondrous quote from Harry. The Spurs manager went on to say that he hoped the Club's South African tour would help settle Luka down and smooth things over between all parties involved.
It will be interesting to see what the next move in this whole fiasco is now. My expectation is that Modric will now be subject to numerous bids from various clubs. However, by denying the player's transfer requesthave put themselves in better bargaining position because they clearly have no sense of urgency (or desire) to sell.
Honestly, I can't decide if this whole thing is exciting or nauseating. Either way there's still 6 weeks until the summer transfer period ends. This is going to be a fun summer!
