I have just listened to the second of the podcasts, whilst my wife is busy sowing and watching some boring Aussie soaps, and I was inspired into writing some words.
I have always been a Spurs fan, but over the last few years I have become more passionate about the team.
This season I am craving even more information, but I do have a different opinion to some others on the structure that I would like to see in the team.
I think that everyone seems to want star players or the best players to play all the time, and dont seem to accept that sometimes having players that may be less talented overall but will work for the team, and will provide passes or runs that enable us to break teams down or score (maybe) more easily.
I think Lennon is a prime example of this. I nearly always feel frustrated when he is on the pitch, by his lack of vision and the shocking final pass. This is where a more average player would accept that he cannot attack as well, and will concentrate on just getting the pass completed.
Even the great VDV sometimes frustrated me, where I would think a player like Jamie O'Hara could have played in the same position but would always give 100%, and his work rate would maybe give better rewards.
This season I would like to see if David Bentley can build a good relationship with Kyle Walker, and together create a partnership down the right that can match the welsh wizzard on the left. I also hope that Danny Rose gets the opportunity to play more often and gain more confidence at left-back.
I do however agree that we need a decent striker. I sometimes think that Pav could step up, but in reality he just blows too hot and cold, so we need someone who is big and strong, and that won't be so Keane to drop deep for the ball! Maybe Soulimane is the guy, but I wouldn't want to waste this season in the hope that he is! With the passes that GB whizzes in into the box, any striker should be getting 20 goals this season, which just shows how shocking our boys were last year.
