Jermaine Jenas Moves To Aston Villa On Loan

Tottenham Hotspur have finally had some success clearing the dead wood from their squad. The earlier acquisition of Scott Parker from West Ham United, in conjunction with the emergence of Jake Livermore, has made the position of Jermaine Jenas tenuous at best. The English midfielder has not featured regularly for the last few seasons, but with a season-long loan to Aston Villa that may change

Aston Villa manager Alex McCleish seemed to be short of options after allowing French midfielder Jean Makoun to join Olympiacos on loan for the season. Jenas will almost certainly be in competition for a first team spot at Villa Park from the off.

I like this move for several reasons. First of all it gives Jenas a chance to play football regularly and perhaps realize a little of the potential he has always possessed. Secondly, the move cannot hurt his transfer value. Jenas wasn't worth much before this, but a solid season on loan might help Spurs get more money for him next off-season.

Finally, his wages are off of our bill. I'm not sure if Villa will be taking on all of Jenas' wages, but they're certainly taking over a portion of them.

Despite how much we pick on Jermaine Jenas, I'm sure we all wish him well (especially if playing like a world-beater will help Spurs make more money). Jenas had some excellent performances in a Spurs shirt and rarely, if ever, complained about his role. He was a consumate professional and a excellent servant to the Club. Good Luck JJ!
