Tottenham Hotspur's U-21's played an exciting match against Aston Villa yesterday.

The new Under 21 Premier League is perhaps the most interesting development in English football this year. Thus far, we haven't devoted to much time to covering it. This could be because these games aren't shown on TV or it could be because we're all very lazy. Either way, we're going to work on fixing this and will start to provide some better coverage of the league for you all.

Yesterday, Tottenham Hotspur played their fifth game in the league and managed to secure their second draw of the campaign. Young striker Jon Obika bagged a brace for Spurs and Kevin Stewart scored Spurs' other goal. The game seemed, from Twitter updates and the match report on Tottenham's website, to be end to end stuff with both teams attacking and countering.

Aside from Obika, Dean Parrett had a stand out performance. At several points during the match Parrett tested the Aston Villa goalkeeper on several occasions and getting assists on Obika's opener and Stewart's goal. Parrett did make an error on Villa's opener, but that was, seemingly, the only time he put a foot wrong during the entire match.

A draw seems to have been a fair result for both sides. Tottenham Hotspur currently sit fifth in their group. The top two teams in each group and then the two best third place teams qualify for the Elite group of the Professional Development League. Tottenham have 7 games to make up ground on the Group 2 leaders, Manchester United.

One encouraging thing we see from looking at the Table is that the Spurs youngsters are the highest scoring team in the league. Unfortunately, they have also concluded the second most goals in the league. See, defensive frailty really is a club wide thing.
