Ok I'll get the actual faults from the match out of the way before I move on to what this is really about.
-Friedel was poor. My analogy of choice for the Lloris/Friedel situation goes as such. We're using our very old, occasionally creaky Volvo (Friedel) for the sake of familiarity and ignoring our brand spanking new sexy Ferrari (Lloris) that we give the occasional drive around Europe so the engine doesn't get into trouble. AVB I officially hand you the keys to the Ferrari.
-Our best attacking threats were Caulker and Vertonghen. That really speaks for itself.
OK now on to what I am really pissed about. When AVB dared to substitute Defoe - who had barely touched the ball up until this point - and bring on Adebayor the entire Lane erupted in boos. This was absolutely disgusting behaviour from every single fan who dared boo our team. How do you expect the boys to lift and put in the performance against a well organised and motivated Wigan outfit if we're booing them and not throwing our support behind them. The Lane's capacity is about 36000 right? There should have been at least 30000 supporters going home with no voice from cheering for 90 minutes straight to get the boys over the line. When did we become that team who just expect to sit back and be silent and expect the team to repeat the 9-1 without getting behind them?
Injuries are really taking their toll. This is NOT AVB'S FAULT. I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH. Our injury list currently reads: BAE, Kaboul, Dembele, Parker, Sandro. Adebayor just returned from injury and so did Kyle Naughton and Jake Livermore. Huddlestone is still very much rusty after his year-long absence. Considering the Swiss cheese nature of our squad I'm very happy with where we are on the ladder. Yeah we've dropped some points but it happens. New manager, lots of new signings, new formation, new everything. It happens guys, adjustment period.
AVB's made some tactical errors but that's due to limited resources to fiddle with tactics and also due to him not knowing which players are best for which situation yet. It's been 10 games, let's give the man some time. We're not Chelsea for the love of god, we don't go sacking managers after a quarter of a season. Let's put some faith in AVB!
Come on you motherfucking Spurs.
