Welcome to 2013! Spurs are kicking off the New Year with a game on the first, wasting no time to get back to action after consecutive defeats of Aston Villa and Sunderland.
The first opponent of 2013 is Reading, traveling to White Hart Lane. The Royals find themselves in 19th place in the table. However, after a crucial weekend win over West Ham and strong defensive performances, Reading seems to be finding some form. The team has had a balanced attack, with Adam Le Fondre, Pavel Pogrebnyak, and Jobi McAnuff leading. Adam Frederici has been a standout in goal, while the defensive unit has allowed just two goals in their last three games.
As for the Prediction League, Petrilli and Ryan dropped off perfect predictions, tightening the race at the top. The rules remain the same in the Prediction League--one point for a correct prediction, a bonus point for getting the score correct. Here are the current standings:
This week's predictions:
Kevin: No Bale. Reading aren't good. Let's call it a nerve-wracking win where we score after halftime and struggle to hang on. 1-0 Spurs
Mechanick: Ade gets going, as he drops off a tidy brace to lead the win. 3-0 Spurs
Ryan: I'm already sick so I don't need more reasons to puke. 3-1 Spurs.
Ashlock: 2-0 Spurs. My New Years Resolution is to figure out what about writing for the site was so stressful for Petrilli.
The Roosevelts: 2-1 Spurs. When people ask you to describe yourself in your online dating profile just say "I'm like a sailboat on a windy day". Wait are these thing supposed to be on topic?
Ed: Q: If Reading have two goals and this isn't the Championship, what do the opponents have? A: Between 2 and 5 more goals. Spurs 4-2.
Petrilli: Spurs 3-1. My New Year's Resolution is to take it easy, and attempt not to stress myself out too much over writing for the site.
Uncle Menno: Down with Reading! Illiteracy is awesome! Spurs 2-0.
