Well, we're through January and things are looking pretty good for Tottenham Hotspur. With some space between them and Chelsea for third place, Spurs destiny are in its hands. But a tough run of fixtures continues, as Tottenham faces Liverpool today, followed by Newcastle, Arsenal, and Manchester United. If Tottenham can come out of this run with some wins under their belt, the push for a top-4 finish should be relatively smooth sailing. A loss of form though could be costly.
In the way is a Liverpool team that should be boasting a full attacking arsenal. Luis Suarez is back from suspension, Steven Gerrard is totally fit, and Andy Carroll has finally broken his scoring slump. Add in the fine form of Craig Bellamy and Dirk Kuyt, and Tottenham should have their hands full with the attack. But only time will tell if this group can gel together in time for the match.
The Writer's Prediction League continues. Ryan dropped another perfect prediction on us last week, stretching his lead. The rules remain--one point for a correct prediction, a bonus point for getting the score correct. Here are the current standings:
This week's predictions after the jump:
Kevin: Fuck off Seventhpool. 1-0 to the Spurs
Ashlock: Both teams are in good form. I can't see anything separating the two sides. 1-1 Draw
Mechanick: I don't particularly like either team's defense. But Gareth makes the difference. 3-2 Spurs
Ryan: Ade ball so hard and Bale's sh*t cray. 2-1 Spurs
The Roosevelts: 2-2 Draw. None of these goals will be scored by Andy Carroll, because of course.
Evan: Gonna concur with Bryan on this. Both teams are playing great football at the moment and settle for a 1-1 Draw.
