Ledley King Set To Have Another Knee Surgery

Harry Redknapp has come out and said that Tottenham defender Ledely King will need another knee operation this summer. The Spurs skipper has managed 21 appearances this year despite continued trouble with the knee. From the quotes that Harry gave, it seems the surgery will be merely an arthroscopic one.

For the sake of the club and the team, he has tried to play on, but he has been playing in pain and his movement's not been as good. Hopefully, we'll get his knee cleared out in the summer and he will be right again. I'm sure the chairman (Daniel Levy) respects everything he has done for the club and we'd love to keep him around.

King is out of contract at the end of this season and earlier in the year Redknapp and others at the club insisted the English center back would need to make at least 20 appearances in order to seal a new deal at White Hart Lane. While King's performances have at times been lacking, perhaps due to the injury, it's hard to imagine the Club without Ledley King. His time as automatic first choice may be slipping away, but that doesn't mean he can't do a job for the club. Hopefully a pay as you play deal can be arrange and the Cartilage Free Captain can remain at Spurs.
