The news we all knew was coming has finally been confirmed by Tottenham Hotspur. The club's official site has released a statement about the sale of Niko Kranjcar to Dinamo Kiev. Kranjcar made 72 appearances for the club since 2009, scoring 11 goals.

As is customary with Tottenham Hotspur, no numbers were released in terms of transfer fees. The Guardian claims that the fee is £5.5 million, which would mean Spurs more than doubled the £2.5 million they paid to Portsmouth for his services in 2009. Dinamo Kiev, earlier today, confirmed that Kranjcar has signed a four-year contract with Ukraine Premier League runners-up and will join up with his new team following his involvement with Euro 2012.

Hopefully, this transfer marks the first of many sales of fringe players. Tottenham Hotspur seem to be a club that is in a sell to buy situation, especially if most of the club's revenue is to go towards funding a new stadium. The departures of the likes of Steven Pienaar, Sebastien Bassong, and Heurelho Gomes could all raise more money for the club going forward.
