Steven Pienaar Expected To Move To Everton; Negotiations Underway

If you were expecting to see Steven Pienaar find new life and a shot to play for Tottenham Hotspur now that the team is going to change managers, it's probably not going to happen. Pienaar has been pretty open about wanting to return to Everton, and David Moyes has been even more open about wanting to bring him back.

For those unfamiliar with the history, a quick recap. Tottenham paid a reported £3m for Pienaar in January of 2011. Everton didn't want to sell, but because Pienaar was out of contract in six months and threatening to leave on a free, they sold. Injuries and form kept Pienaar out of the team, and he never nailed down a first team place. Last January, after a year with the club, Spurs loaned him back to Everton, where he played very well.

Now, they want him back, and according to Sky Sports, we're willing sellers.

Sky puts the rumored fee at around £5m, which is actually a decent piece of business for Tottenham considering what they paid for him in the first place. They had to pay his (very inflated) wages for a year while getting minimal production, but selling a player who didn't produce for a bigger fee than they paid for the first place isn't bad at all.

I'm not sure where Tottenham's depth on the wings is going to come from with Pienaar leaving and Giovani dos Santos rumored to be close to the exit as well, but I'm sure Andre Villas-Boas, Tim Sherwood and Daniel Levy have something up their sleeves. If Pienaar (and Gio) leave, hopefully a replacement comes in. Maybe that's what Adrian is for?
