Selling Modric will hurt Spurs this season...or will it?

It's no secret that Luka Modric is set to pack his bags and leave Tottenham during this transfer window. Many Spurs fans are beginning to panic and question whether Spurs will compete next season with the likes of Man City, Man United, Chelsea, ect, but I believe that offloading the creative playmaker will actually benefit Spurs.

First off, lets take a look at some stats shall we? Luka Modric during the 2011/12 season racked up a total of 5 goals and 4 assists for Tottenham Hotspur in ALL COMPETITIONS. Did those stats suprise you? I dont care if Luka Modric was ranked third in chances created for Tottenham this season, it all comes down to the stats that matter and win games such as goals and assists, and honestly, those stats are nothing special for a player that is set to be purchased by a club such as Real Madrid.

So why would we not cash in on Modric? We could easily pull off two great signings with the money we get from him, not to mention signings that actually want to play for the club. Reports say Joao Moutinho is set to replace Luka Modric next season. I think the Portuguese maestro is the perfect replacement for Modric, and would fit into AVB's likely 4-3-3 formation that he will be using for this upcoming season.

So should we worry about Modric leaving or should we be happy he is moving on? If you ask me it's about time he moves away from the club he has been so eager to leave for the past 18 months. Dont get me wrong Modric is a brilliant player in the game, and has really served Tottenham well, but it's time to look ahead to the future with AVB, and if Modric does not want to be a part of that, then it's best to cash him in and replenish the squad with stronger talent.
