The Loic Remy To Spurs Rumors Are Back

Loic Remy is one of Tottenham Hotspur's top transfer targets again, so says the Daily Mail, the Express and a bunch of other papers that would be an insult to toilet paper. We couldn't make it through the transfer window without this rumor coming back again, could we?

Apparently Daniel Levy flew to France to seal the deal for Remy, which would be cool. It is also unlikely to be true.

The idea of a Remy to Spurs transfer isn't completely crazy. Tottenham still do need a striker and they have a history with Remy, albeit when the club was managed by Harry Redknapp and not Andre Villas-Boas. But besides being a striker capable of playing alone up top, which Spurs need, Remy can also play on the wing in a three-man front line and Spurs also need that too, even if only for depth. Remy fits.

Remy is also 25 years old already, which is not old by any means, but doesn't exactly count as young. He hasn't been linked to Spurs all summer despite Marseille making it clear that for a price he could be had either. Oh, absolutely nobody remotely credible mentioned his and Spurs' name in the same sentence in quite a while.

Remy would be a nice fit and is rumored to cost £15 million so in theory, his moving to Spurs isn't a bad idea. If Tottenham did make that buy, nobody would skewer them for it. It would be a fine buy. Are there better buys? Sure, but Remy is good.

Before anyone gets excited about Remy to Spurs, though, wait for something mildly credible. Deep breaths, everyone. It's going to be a long two days.
