After years of speculation, loan moves and riding the bench, Daniel Levy has finally stopped dragging his feet and allowed Giovani dos Santos to leave. The Mexican international finally has the permanent La Liga move he's wanted for the last couple of years, and the move might suit his reportedly party-centric lifestyle as well. He's signing for Mallorca on a four-year contract.

I would have loved to see Gio get a shot under Andre Villas-Boas, but the club probably decided to move on from him long ago.

My knowledge of Mallorca is, admittedly, not what it used to be. I can't tell you whether or not dos Santos will start right away on the island, or whether he'll be playing on the wing or at attacking midfield.

There's no news out yet about what kind of fee Tottenham were able to rake in, but Mallorca are not a rich club. This is probably a case of Levy finally caving and letting dos Santos go for significantly less than he paid for him. In this case, I don't think any party involved in the deal is too upset about that.
