Remember when Yann M'Vila was one of Tottenham Hotspur's top transfer targets? That clearly is no longer the case because the club passed on the Rennes player just yesterday.
President Frederic de Saint Sernin says Yann M'Vila will be staying put. "He will not be in England. Spurs passed on the player on Thursday"— ESPN FC (@ESPNFC) August 31, 2012
That is quite the change from what we were hearing earlier this summer. M'Vila was one of the prized targets for Spurs. They wanted nothing more than to sign the France international.
There are two possible reasons for this change of heart:
- Daniel Levy was confident of signing Joao Moutinho yesterday. He was always going to have to sign another player and there is no chance that he would pass on M'Vila if he didn't have Moutinho in the pipeline.
- Sandro really impressed the club with Brazil over the summer and again in these first two matches so they think that he can play as a lone holding midfielder match-in, match-out.
