Told you that Daniel Levy was going to bid for a player out of absolutely nowhere. According to Sky Sports, Clint Dempsey has agreed to terms on a contract with Tottenham Hotspur. Given the low bid by Aston Villa and criminally low bid by Liverpool earlier today, I don't think there's any hang-up about coming to an agreement with Fulham over his transfer. Dempsey should be a Tottenham player shortly.

I know that a lot of fans won't be particularly pleased with swapping Rafael Van der Vaart with Clint Dempsey, but Dempsey has been a very productive player in the Premier League for five years. His versatility and fitness is a very good fit for Spurs' fluid and high pressing system. He also costs a lot less than what we just sold Van der Vaart for.
We're going to debate this endlessly over the next week, but I feel like this is a good piece of business. I didn't like the idea of signing Dempsey for eight figures, but the rumored £6m fee is a bargain.
