Reading vs. Tottenham Hotspur Preview: In Search of Victory

Tottenham Hotspur travel to Premier League new boys Reading on Sunday. Both sides are still searching for their first win of the season. In their first two Premier League matches Reading has played admirably against tough competition. The Royals drew against Stoke City on opening weekend and then followed it up with a 4-2 loss to Chelsea during which they lead 2-1 for a good portion of the match. Spurs have been less than impressive in their three opening fixtures. Each match featured a late goal for Tottenham's opponents and left the club with only two points.

The first game back after an international break is always kind of a mixed bag for teams. You can never be too sure what the condition the players are in after their various travels. Some may be jetlagged, others may have slight knocks, either way you don't really have a full week to prepare for your game. Usually this isn't a big deal, but seeing as how this is the first chance the players who were signed on deadline day will have to play in a game and they still haven't gotten a proper week of training with the club.

That said, we should expect to see a lot of new signings in the Tottenham squad this week. Mousa Dembele and Emmanuel Adebayor should make the start for Tottenham and I expect Hugo Lloris and Clint Dempsey to begin the game on the bench. For Reading, who didn't make any signings on transfer deadline day, their biggest addition will be the return of winger Jimmy Kebe to fitness.

The match kicks off at 4:00PM local time (11:00AM ET) and can be seen in the UK on Sky Sports 1. If you're watching from the United States, then you can catch the action on Fox Soccer Channel or FOX Deportes. In Canada the game can be seen on Sportsnet World.
