Tottenham Attempting To Send Fringe Midfielder Out On Loan

Many might consider it a great failing that both Jermaine Jenas and David Bentley are still at Tottenham Hotspur. Both players have been sent on loan before and I have no doubt that both have been offered to clubs on numerous occasions, but still the former England internationals remain with Spurs. However, a light has emerged at the end of the tunnel! Andre Villas-Boas seems determined to loan out Jenas in order to get the player some first team minutes.

Several news sources (including the Mirror) are saying that Tottenham are looking to send Jenas on loan to the Championship for a season-long loan deal. Jenas, of course, was linked with a move to Sunderland on deadline day, but the Black Cats took Danny Rose on loan instead. Premier League rules prohibit taking more than one player on loan from another Premier League club so Jenas was forced to stay at Spurs.

A move down to the Championship seems a bit harsh on Jenas who, despite his form for Spurs, still has some good years of football left in him. There are far worse central midfielders holding down regular places for Premier League teams, but if it gets Jenas off the wage bill for a time then a move anywhere would probably be worth it. Now if we could just find a way to deal with Bentley.
