Hugo Lloris Refuses To Comment On Tottenham Situation

Earlier this week, we reported to you that new Tottenham Hotspur signing Hugo Lloris might be a little bit peeved that he wasn't going to be handed the starting position right away. Well, despite what France manager Didier Deschamps had to say, Lloris himself won't be drawn into commenting on the possibility of competing with Brad Friedel. The following quote come from Sky Sports News. Consider it all sic'd.

"About my personal situation, it is neither the right place nor the right moment to talk about it. I am only sure I am perfectly focused in the best way on French team and at the coach disposal for the start of WC qualifier. I believe I can be professional and take things into consideration. Today I am only focused on the French team objective."

Well, that's a very long and complicated way of avoiding commenting on the situation. I guess this is for the best. I'd rather not have Lloris saying things about how he doesn't want to be at Spurs if he has to compete and whatnot, but this sort of elaborate "No Comment" is not exactly an encouraging sign either.

We talked a lot about whether or not Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas handled this situation properly, but this situation is starting to get silly. It's stories like these that make me hate the international break. If we weren't on break, all the players and the coaches would be at Spurs Lodge or the new training facility in Enfield and this would all be getting worked out behind closed doors. Instead, the player and his national team coach are firing shots (or not firing shots) in the media.

Can the international break be over now? Please?
