That's last season, at the end of November. Arsenal were 5 points off the top 4, actually more than we are now. They ended up finishing above us. They'd also lost their best player from the last season in van Persie, and had spent a considerable sum on Podolski, Giroud, and Cazorla.
(The parallels with the Arse are kind of disturbing, but my point still stands)
It might suck now, but hold your horses people. We play a season, not a single match. As much as you might want to criticize this or that, sometimes the best option is just to sit tight, cross your fingers, and ride it out. Let's just have a bit more hope and a touch of positivity, eh?
By the way, I'm really surprised to see West Brom up there. Perhaps a bit of a warning to Southampton fans?
