Don't Blame Levy. Blame BRIC.

Today as I was quixotically hoping to sign Damiao, I turned to friends who spoke Portugese hoping for some insider news that the Anglophones had missed. I ended up chatting with my freshman roommate who taught in Brazil. I never really asked him because most reports were talking about how the deal had broken up and there were complications possibly with the third party.

He commented on how shady third parties can be, but then said something much more profound. Internacional doesn't have much incentive to sell Damiao right now. The economy of Brazil has helped stabilize the league to a certain degree. At least enough to where they don't have to sell their best players like hotcakes. They can set outrageously high release clauses. And even wait for clubs to do it like PSG.

BRIC stands for Brazil, Russia, India, and China. It's one of the new economic blocks with growing strength. Which leads us to Russia and it's petrol clubs. Willian, who's value skyrocketed after this year's CL group stage, was bought by Anzhi Makhachkala for 34 million pounds? AVB lamented that it was a "pity" he didn't go to a better league. And I have to agree with his idea that this was mostly a lateral move. Sorry Aslan. The Russian league just isn't the EPL. But Russia does have many billionaires that can be sugar daddies to their clubs.

I blame BRIC. Brazilians can wait for mad money. Russians can buy with mad money. I'm not sure how India and China come into play, but I'm sure they play a factor. If anyone has more information, please follow up.

Let it be known that I'm a fan of BRIC and their challenge to some of the existing blocks and world powers. I'm just not a fan of the cockblock transfer moves that affect my hotspurs. RIP imaginary spurs: Damiao, Willian, ect...

I'll still dream the impossible dream (that AVB can sign portugese speaking players lol).
