John Bostock on Verge of San Jose Earthquakes Loan

Tottenham's former hot prospect midfielder could be trying to find some momentum in his career with a U.S. loan.

Reports have linked Tottenham Hotspur midfielder John Bostock with a loan to MLS side San Jose Earthquakes. Bostock, 21, has long been a known quantity at Spurs, making his first team debut on Nov. 6, 2008 at the age of just 16 years, 295 days, entering as a substitute in a UEFA Cup group match against Dinamo Zagreb at White Hart Lane. Since then though Bostock's career has struggled, as he has been unable to break through at Spurs or find consistent playing time on loan.

Bostock had been on loan with Swindon Town towards the end of 2011-12 season and through the beginning of this current season, but Spurs recalled him on 7 January 2013 as Bostock found less consistent playing time. However, San Jose, as one of Spurs' team partners, could be a fine landing spot for Bostock. Tottenham's Simon Dawkins found a great deal of playing time in two loan spells with the Earthquakes, helping him latch on to his currently promising loan with Aston Villa. The relationship as club partners seems to help Tottenham in getting assurances that Bostock will feature for the MLS side.

Bostock already featured for a half in the Earthquakes' friendly today, building hopes that the midfielder could be a key contributor in replacing Dawkins, his former Spurs' teammate. A strong loan could rebuild Bostock's form and value, making him a commodity in MLS, to an English transfer, or perhaps even to Spurs themselves.
