Having just watched Lewis Holtby's interview on SpursTV, one can surely only say what an impressive individual he is.
Given he is Germany's Under 21 captain and all the praise he has received from Schalke in regards to his character that probably shouldn't surprise. But the thing I find remarkable is that you look across the Tottenham squad and it is quite a staggering away of impressive individuals and leaders in the side.
You have Hugo Lloris, who comes aross as very intelligent and is of course captain of the French national team. We all know what a fantastic character Michael Dawson is and Jan Vertonghen was club captain at Ajax and always impressives with his character. Scott Parker of course is an England captain and the list just really does go on and on in terms of players who can talk well, don't have outrageous egos and boast strong leadership skills.
Footballers aren't always the sharpest tools in the shed, and in some teams you often struggle to find captain material, however Tottenham is going to find it a challenge going forward identifying a captain because of the wealth of leadership talent they have in the roster.
Tottenham lost arguably one of its finest-ever captains in Ledley King, and often losing such an influential leader can take a toll on a club. However, I've always believed that if you look for quality in the man as much as your look for quality with the ball, you'll end up with a great club, who not only play consistent, smart football but who also make you proud off the field as well, and it's one of the things that right now, makes me proud to be a Tottenham fan.
