If there were any doubts as to whether Zinedine Zidane and Florentino Perez have ever spoken of Gareth Bale, this post aims to put those doubts to rest. There was recently a suggestion that some of these quotations have been fabricated. Well,I have an issue with that notion (I actually find it insulting on so many different levels), and I'm sure almost every Spurs supporter does as well. So, I've linked the coverage of each individual pertaining to our prized asset, and I'll leave it to you to make your own decision of the validity of the quotes.
I've decided to use Sky Sports for my source consistency, although some may have issue with that. I also do not plan to track down which newspaper/media conglomerate Zidane and Perez were speaking to for their respective statements, but feel free to do so yourself.
Let's start with Zidane, shall we?
There's a difference between fabricated narratives, and fabricated quotations. These are neither. They aren't based off of speculative stories produced by Marca. They aren't crazy, unsubstantiated quotations attributed to a player they have no access to (ehh hem, AS). They are two representatives of Real Madrid, speaking to the media about a player that is contracted to another club. Plain and simple.
If either Zidane or Perez had issue with any of these quotations being published - in their position - they would have made it clear. Fact is, they didn't.
