According to the BBC (at 2:45 p.m. local time on the ticker), Aaron Lennon and Nacer Chadli will not feature in Thursday's Europa League match against Tromso. Incredibly, that has led to long-time reserve and multiple-time San Jose Earthquakes loanee Simon Dawkins being named to Tottenham's preliminary squad for the game.
Lennon's problem is still being called a foot injury, while Chadli has an adductor strain. Hopefully that's not too serious and the Belgian is back shortly. Etienne Capoue, who is probably going to miss the next couple of weeks with a knee sprain, is still out.
The team is also without Emmanuel Adebayor, who is training with the Under-21s. Why, I have no idea. He'd be a useful guy to have going forward. We're also without Vlad Chiriches, who apparently doesn't have a work permit yet. Romania is in the European Union, so if anyone can explain this to me, I'd really appreciate it. I don't understand in the slightest why he needs to get one (or why Portuguese citizen Fernando reportedly had a work permit hearing on deadline day).
Other than Dawkins, Zeki Fryers is the only other non-first team regular, and occasional development squad player in the team.
Provisional squad: Friedel, Lloris, Walker, Kaboul, Vertonghen, Naughton, Dawson, Fryers, Rose, Paulinho, Holtby, Townsend, Dembele, Sigurdsson, Eriksen, Sandro, Lamela, Soldado, Defoe, Dawkins
