Fantrax Week 13 & 14 Preview (Double Trouble in La-La-Land)

We're getting down to the nitty-gritty in the Premier League now and so too in our own little imaginationland.

With a full round of fixtures both this week-end and the following mid-week, things can dramatically change in the standings with just a few swift strokes (... or they can stay exactly the same), so I think this is gonna be hella fun.

Since I'm doing lineups and predictions for two gameweeks in one, I have no additional interesting or funny concept for this preview post... But y'all can go look at some gifs of puppies or kittens, I guess. Whatever, let's get started.

GAMEWEEK 13

Late Run Into the Box vs Bravespurs

Prediction: Though the acquisition of Oscar and Diouf strengthens Brave for this gameweek and his defense still keeps being really good, Bandit's Swans (and Spurs hopefully) look set for a big points tally, so this battle of the B's is really tough to call. Meh, homerism dictates Kane makes a late run into the box to seal the deal for Godot.

--

Pouchers Sack vs #he'sheatingup

Prediction: Somid's midfield is really solid, but there are question marks both for his defense (... which also has an awful lack of depth. Get on that, bro!) and his forwards. The same actually goes for big boss man BSC in that his defenders don't have the best fixtures coming up and could also do with some tinkering, but having six strikers to rotate is a luxury that yet again gives him the edge for this week's matchup. So: BSC to solidify his league lead.

Polkaroo vs The Draft Excluders

Prediction: This one will be really, really close and looks like a particularly interesting matchup. Both teams have about the same amount of "good" and "bad" fixtures for their players, both are relatively weak in defense, but much stronger going forward with Polk's excellent midfield and PD's fixture-wise picture perfect forward duo. If RVP and Bony take advantage of that fact, this might be an excluding swing, but not even that may secure a win with Silva back and Fabregas, Navas and Sanchez all putting up points on a consistent basis. P is for Polkaroo this time round.

Smugglers vs Feel Good Lost

Prediction: Smugglers' on-and-off again affinity won't seem to matter much this gameweek as his team by default is set up pretty much at the optimal already. However, his guys don't gel well with the fixtures and he's gonna need saving from the monster that is Diego Costa to have any chance of the win. Even though I've traded for two guys that won't give me any benefit here, my team is full of guys with nice home fixtures at every level, and therefore look likely to put up a good amount of points. I'm definitely jinxing it by saying this, but I can't see how I'll not win this one.

--

Buffaloes Roam vs Spurqueno

Prediction: For once, Levi's defense seems good enough this week-end, but there are still major issues in depth both there and going forward. His success will depend on Eriksen, Fellaini and Welbeck / Giroud doing some business. Meanwhile, some smart claims has given Spurque a solid foundation for taking this home, with his defense and midfield looking stronger than that of his opponent, and with Sakho probably back I think this will do the trick to continue the Spurquenaissance going into the next matchups.

GAMEWEEK 14

Bravespurs vs Pouchers Sack

Prediction: Though not necessarily the best selection of fixtures for his team, Brave's brave motherfuckers seem ready to get decent scores in defense, midfield and maybe even attack, which I think will be enough this matchup. Because on the other hand, things get even worse for Somid's defense (... Seriously, bro. Get on that!), and he's in the need of some big contributions from his major players to have any say in this fight. Brave keeps on bravin'.

Late Run Into the Box vs Polkaroo

Prediction: Bandit's Swans might yet again be the difference come mid-week, while Lukaku also looks likely to do his part in securing the result. However, Polk's full fullback defense and per usual monster midfield have the clear potential of outscoring whatever Bandit comes up with and I think this will be a great gameweek for the likes of Sanchez (ugh) and Fabregas (ugh ugh ugh). Close one this, for sure, but I think Polk will keep up his tendency to squeek wins out.

#he'sheatingup vs Smugglers

Prediction: This is BSC's to lose. Great fixtures for his defense and his midfield, so the difference might be in which forwards he chooses to play besides King Kun Aguero. At the same time, he'll need guys to actually put up points, since this is a good matchup for Smugglers as well. His defense and midfield both look pretty good this time round and if Baines, Barkley and Costa (surely he will go crazy against Spurs) do the things, he'll be in with a good shout. I'm looking forward to seeing how this one pans out but I have to go for BSC heating up them jets this time too.

--

The Draft Excluders vs Buffaloes Roam

Prediction: Mid-week is good to our resident Big Dunc with United, Everton, Swansea, Palace and City all looking likely to get great results and give his players the points to win the matchup. Especially since Levi's defense looks royally fucked in the fixtures and that it may well be the case that another Viking King (... and thus his greatest weapon) meets his death at Stamford Bridge. Sad as it is, I think he'll have to root for Scums to save him, which is just, well, awful. So let's just agree that PD wins this, amirite?

--

Feel Good Lost vs Spurqueno

Prediction: Both gameweek's setups seem to lend themselves well to my team, mainly because Man United looks a good bet for big wins. So if De Gea, Di Maria and Rooney get the points expected, I might continue the climb here. However, Spurque's team is such a wildcard in that he's got lots of good players in fixtures that can go any which way, so this matchup might also go whichever way and will probably be pretty damn close. But since I'm already in for jinxing myself completely, I'll say the force will be with poor C3PO for a second time running.

(Something something conclusion goes here... Good luck to everyone!)
