Watch Roberto Soldado break his duck

Paul Gilham

Bobby, we just want to love you.

It's been a difficult season for Roberto Soldado. When he was purchased for a then-club record fee, Tottenham Hotspur fans though he was the cure to what ailed the team. Sure, some fans thought that we overpaid and that we could have bought a better striker, but there was a consensus: Spurs needed a true center forward with a great scoring record and Soldado fit the bill. He would make us better.

As we all know, it hasn't gone well. He scored some early penalties that we thought would spark a great run of form, but it never game. He struggled, then he struggled worse, then he started to look like an absolute lemon. He missed sitters over and over and over again.

Until Sunday's game against Cardiff City, that is. Here's Bobby Soldier's second Premier League goal from open play and his first goal, period, since December.

Roberto, we love you. Now keep doing this and prove the haters -- myself included -- dead wrong.
