So, this morning while browsing the internets and inspired by a tweet about Frazier Campbell (via @PeterBerkes) I found a Youtube video that is an old favourite of mine. I think y'all might enjoy it too. Soccer AM used to do this thing where they'd go to Premier League clubs and get the teams to take part in a crossbar challenge for the chance to win an AMAZING Soccer AM t-shirt. Better than a trophy, that t-shirt is. Anyway, this Tottenham one is remarkable for a number of reasons, IMO. A reminder that Alan Hutton played for us, Gareth Bale listing his position as "left side" (so prescient), Frazier Campbell being Frazier Campbell and Jermaine Jenas glory. BONUS: Tim Sherwood presenting the winner with their t-shirt!
It's also quite funny that only one of the players from this video is still on our squad, the one, the only: HEURELHO GOMES. I figured it might be fun to catch up with the rest of the illustrious figures in this video, so here we go.
Didier Zokora: currently plying his trade for Trabzonspor in Turkey. As well as landing revenge tackles for racist insults.
Robbie Keane: captaining his boyhood club LA Galaxy and living for the banter.
Pascal Chimbonda: still having David Pleat mispronounce his name (SHIMBOMBA), while playing for Carlisle United in League One.
Luka Modric: killing it at our "partner" club.
Alan Hutton: on loan at Bolton from Aston Villa. Still being paid to play football, for some reason. Cocaine.
Gareth Bale: welp.
Giovani Dos Santos: carving out a successful stint at Villareal. Unsure if he's still loving the night life.
Frazier Campbell aka "Black Zorro": doing Frazier Campbell things at Cardiff. I have no clue if anyone ever called him that nickname aside from himself.
JD Trouble: about to blow the MLS up with Toronto FC. Popping bottles in the club with Drake.
Heurelho Gomes: squad player at Tottenham. Chair of fun team activities, based on his appearances on Spurs TV.
Jermaine Jenas: part of the Redknapp QPR Galacticos (saw this term on Twitter, can't remember who). Occasional pundit. Still not sure what he does.
There you have it, folks. In these dark days, look at this squad list and then think about our squad list now...and, well, we're in a better place? Right? Maybe? Hopefully? *looks at glass as half full, weeps* Either way, enjoy the banter and I hope you find this video as amusing as I did.
