Tottenham Hotspur will play Nottingham Forest in the third round of the Capital One Cup. Wednesday's draw pitted them against Forest, with the match set to be played at White Hart Lane on September 23 or 24.
The match will come in between a home match against West Brom and a visit to Arsenal. Odds are that Mauricio Pochettino will go with mainly reserves so he will have a fresh side when they take on the Gunners on the weekend.
With a Europa League match also scheduled for September 18, Spurs will be looking at five matches in 22 days. That makes it all the more likely that Pochettino punts the League Cup, making a loss a distinct possibility.
Forest finished 11th in the Championship a year ago, but they have started this season with three wins and a draw to jump to the top of the table. They beat Tranmere Rovers in the first round and Huddersfield Town to make the third round of this competition.
Spurs are entering the tournament in the third round because of their participation in the Europa League. All teams in European competition got a bye to the third round, meaning they only have to win five matches to be crowned champions.
