January Transfer Rumors: Sergio Aguero, Giuseppe Rossi For Tottenham?

We have just over 24 hours to go in the January transfer window, and the rumors liking Tottenham to strikers keep coming in hot and heavy. This time, Spurs are being linked to a couple of smaller strikers with speed and skill, Sergio Aguero and Giuseppe Rossi. But don't take my word for it!

Transfer latest - we're told Atletico Madrid have rejected bid worth £38.5m (€45m) from #thfc for Sergio Aguero #ssnless than a minute ago via Twitter for iPhone

#Tottenham offer UK-record €42.5m for Aguero & €30m for Rossi. Extraordinary chase for a striker from Levy. http://tinyurl.com/6larrnuless than a minute ago via web

Of course, if you're familiar with The Times, the link on the second tweet is behind a paywall. Personally, I do not have a subscription. However, if someone from both the Times and Sky Sports is tweeting about the Aguero rumor, it's probably true. As for Rossi, I haven't seen that anywhere else.

Aguero - we're told £38.5m (€45m) is release clause in his contract. Tax implications on Aguero mean no deal reached.

So, it seems like Levy is willing to pay the money and Atleti will let him go if the cash is forked up, but the contract terms are a sticking point. Honestly, I say pay the man whatever he wants. Sergio Aguero is truly world class and has every chance to be one of the best players in the world. He's been a budding superstar for so long that it's easy to forget that he's only 22 years old. If he wants to come, it would be an amazing coup for the team.
