The Writer's Prediction League is back from a relaxing international break that saw our staff reminiscing over a delightful win in the North London Derby. Rafael van der Vaart scored the opener for Tottenham, but an early second half goal saw Aaron Ramsey even the score. But it would take a Kyle Walker blast to give Spurs the lead, and the eventual three points over their hated rival.
This week, Tottenham has a new challenge in facing a Newcastle United side that finds itself in fourth place after a surprisingly strong start to the season. The acquisition of Yohan Cabaye and Demba Ba have proven massive for the club, and veteran players like Chieck Tiote, Jonas Gutierrez, and Fabricio Coloccini have carried strong form through the season.
As for our Prediction League, Ryan continues to lead while The Roosevelts provides a tough challenge. The rules remain, one point for a correct prediction, a bonus point for getting the score correct. Here's the current standings:
Name | Score |
Ryan | 7 |
The Roosevelts | 4 |
Ashlock | 4 |
Mechanick | 2 |
Kevin | 2 |
Evan | 1 |
This week's predictions after the jump:
Kevin: I live in a fantasy world where Ade and Lennon are 90 minutes fit but Ba, Cabaye and Ben Arfa are not. 2-1 Spurs
Ashlock: The international break broke our momentum and we're still not healthy. Fortunately it will do the same for Newcastle. 1-1 Draw
Mechanick: I'm putting my faith in Ledley that we hold it together in the back, then nick a late win. 1-0 Spurs
Ryan: We're stupid and do stupid things so we'll manage a stupid 1-1 Draw. Stupid.
The Roosevelts: We have injuries and I have a hangover. 1-0 Loss
Evan: The squad is far from full fitness, and the Toon manages to scrap away for a draw. 1-1 Draw
