Three of our Tottenham Hotspur players were in action in Thursday while on international duty, while another made the 18-man squad for his national team but did not get off of the bench. England's youth national teams were on duty, accounting for most of that, but we also got to see Sandro get back into the Brazil team.
During his eighth appearance for his country - Sandro made his debut while still playing at Internacional - the Spurs defensive midfielder netted his first ever goal for his country in the 12th minute, as Brazil defeated Gabon 2-0 in a friendly match. Brazil is the host of the 2014 World Cup, so instead of playing tough World Cup qualifiers like the rest of South America, they're traveling around the world and playing lucrative friendlies at the moment.
On-loan fullback Adam Smith, who is playing fantastically for MK Dons by all accounts, started in the England U21 team's win over Iceland in European Championship qualifying. Tom Carroll was on the bench for that game, but did not make an appearance. Hurricane Harry Kane was also in action, playing 60 minutes for England U19s as they defeated Denmark.
