According to reports from various news sources, not just the Daily Mail, Tottenham have reached an agreement with Juventus for the transfer of striker Amauri. The Italian/Brazilian will join, allegedly, join Tottenham Hotspur in January for what some deem a "nominal fee".

Amauri hasn't played for Juventus this season and having not been given a squad number, it would seem he has no future with the Old Lady. Amauri is 31 and has scored 80 goals in more than 300 games in Italy. Not the most impressive goal-scoring record. If he comes cheap and his wage is close to the predicted £35,000 then I suppose I can't complain too much, but this isn't the deal many of us envisioned when we were begging for Spurs to sign a striker.

To me the addition of Amauri seems like a stopgap. A way of ensuring that, once Roman Pavlyuchenko is sold and Emmanuel Adebayor's loan ends, that Jermain Defoe isn't the only striker on our roster this summer. We're also being heavily linked with Fulham's Moussa Dembele, but we all know that's not the deal we really want either.

At this point it's almost give me Leandro Damiao or give me death. Ok, perhaps that's a bit extreme, but seriously. Less of this Amauri business and more Leandro. Please and thank you.
