Michael Dawson Injury Update: Tottenham Defender Has Surgery, Out Until At Least December

Michael Dawson has been out for a while, and he's going to continue to be out.

If you've been wondering about Michael Dawson's injury status, you are not alone. I, too, have been wondering. We just found out what his status is, and it's very bad. Via the official website of Tottenham Hotspur, Dawson has undergone surgery on his Achilles and will be evaluated for a possible return in December. More likely than not, even if surgery went perfectly and Dawson is able to return to training in December, he wouldn't be able to make a start until January.

This is not the end of the world, especially with Ledley King's current fitness. The CFC is having much better luck with fitness than last year. Additionally, William Gallas has just returned to the team, Younes Kaboul is in solid form, and Sebastian Bassong has progressed from "abject embarrassment" to "respectable reserve and fifth center back." We'll be okay without Dawson.

But, this still sucks. He's our best defender. He doesn't have the experience of King or the athleticism of Kaboul, but he's definitely got the best combination of athleticism, experience and tactical acumen in the side when he's healthy. Hopefully the "Medical staff are pleased with his progress" line in the report from the team isn't just lip service and he's back to training in December.
