Swansea City Vs. Tottenham Hotspur: Match Report, Spurs Leak Late at the Liberty Stadium

Going into this match, there seemed to be a belief that Tottenham were strong enough to conquer Swansea's top notch home form that had seem them only lose one game at the Liberty Stadium. Well, Spurs found justice as the team dropped a lead late to draw the Swans 1-1.

All along, Spurs found Swansea a difficult team to crack. Swansea had the majority of possession, creating chances and pushing the tempo on Tottenham. Swansea seemed to be the beneficiaries of a rotated squad, as the side made multiple switches from the side that drew QPR in the midweek. Tottenham, however, trotted out the same side that beat Norwich City on Tuesday. The difference showed, as Tottenham tired in the last half hour while Swansea pushed on. This paid off when Scott Sinclair was able to equalize in the 84th minute.

It's a tough game to pull positives from for Tottenham. The opening goal was due partly to luck as Van der Vaart scored on a deflected cross, but Benoit Assou-Ekotto did put in a good ball to create the chance. Gareth Bale seemed unable to match his spark from the Norwich City match, while Scott Parker seemed worn-out the entire match.

In the end, the draw keeps Tottenham three points clear in third place of Arsenal with a game in hand. However, with Manchester United losing to Blackburn United today, it seems a golden chance was lost to keep Spurs in the title hunt. Next up for Tottenham is return home on Tuesday to face West Brom. It will be interesting to see if Redknapp opts for some fresh legs.
