Aston Villa And Everton Interested In Tottenham Hotspur Right Back Alan Hutton?

If Sky Sports is to be believed, both Aston Villa and Everton are interested in making a move for out of favor Tottenham Hotspur right back Alan Hutton. The Scottish international hasn't been included in the Spurs team since he had a little bust-up with Harry Redknapp. With Kyle Walker and Kyle Naughton both returning from loan at the end of the season, in addition to Younes Kaboul and Vedran Corluka being pretty good on the right side, although whether they are better suited for other positions and systems is debatable, Hutton is surplus to requirements. So, is he actually for sale and attracting interest? We can only hope.

Hutton's athletic ability and forward runs often create the illusion that he is not only a competent, but dangerous right wing back. However, it is but an illusion after all, as his crossing and defending often leave much to be desired. Although Corluka is absurdly slow for a fullback who is asked to get forward, he's actually a competent defender and a much better crosser than Hutton. Kaboul isn't any better at crossing, but he's actually considerably more athletic and a much better defender. Naughton has stalled a bit in his development, but Walker has potential coming out of his ears. If Hutton is anything more than fourth choice at right back, even if he repairs his broken relationship with Redknapp, it's troubling.

So, thanks for the memories, Alan, and don't let the door hit you on the way out. Hopefully someone is dumb enough to give us £5m for the guy.
