Before he went down with an injury, I was the biggest Big Tom fan around here. We're a completely different team with him in the lineup. We thought we were going to get Tom Huddlestone back at the new year. Then in February. Then a couple weeks ago. The delays have been obnoxious, to say the least. Now, our prayers have finally been answered. Huddlestone is now back in full training for Tottenham Hotspur, and Harry Redknapp is almost as happy as I am.
Said 'Arry about Tom's return:
"We've two weeks now where we can really work with him and hopefully get him ready for the next game. There is no reason why he shouldn't make that with a fortnight's training."
So, we should see Tom in uniform for sure against Wigan at the DW Stadium. Jermaine Jenas and Sandro have done a good job filing in while Huddlestone has been out, but they don't offer nearly the creativity and technical skill that Big Tom does. He'll be a big re-addition to the squad.
Are we going to beat Real Madrid? Probably not. But Huddlestone's presence gives us a much better chance of pulling the upset. Without his passing presence, we didn't have a snowball's chance in hell. Now, at least the upset is on the table, however unlikely.
God, remember those heavenly balls out wide to Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon. We have two central midfielders who can do that again, in Huddlestone and Luka Modric. I'm excited.
