Real Madrid Vs. Tottenham Hotspur 2011, Cristiano Ronaldo Injury Update: He's In The 18

Uh oh. Against the advice of doctors, it looks like Cristiano Ronaldo will be part of Jose Mourinho's 18 man squad to face Tottenham Hotspur. In case you didn't know, Ronaldo is one of the fiveish best players in the world. When he plays, Real Madrid are basically unstoppable unless they're playing Barcelona. When he isn't playing, they look like absolute booty. This is a ridiculously big deal, especially if he's fit to start and play 90 minutes. Apparently, Arsene Wenger has said we have a 50-50 shot, but if Ronaldo's fit, I'm not going to be that generous.

The good news is that, while Ronaldo looks fit, Madrid don't have a whole lot of anything down the left. Marcelo and Angel Di Maria are both serious doubts for the match, meaning that Esteban Granero and Alvaro Arbeloa will likely start. They're both good players, but there is a significant drop-off in quality there. Although, after watching Di Maria's embarrassing performance against Sporting Gijon this weekend, his absence may be a bad thing for Spurs.
