I thought this would be a pretty close race with lots of different players receiving votes, but, as usual, I was wrong. Our Tottenham Hotspur Best XI now adds the center back pairing of Ledley King and Michael Dawson. I have a sinking feeling that, Stephen Carr aside, this Best XI is going to wind up Tottenham's XI from the last two years. However, King and Dawson are certainly very deserving of the honor of being in this Best XI.
King has been, far and away, the best defender for Tottenham Hotspur this decade. He is renowned throughout the league as one of the best central defenders in the league. His strength, ability in the air, and his reading of the game are unmatched amongst his peers at Tottenham. Add that to the fact that King has performed so admirably for the club without training. Imagine what King would be capable of if he actually practiced!
Dawson, was for years, knocked for lacking leadership qualities and being unable to play well without King around, suddenly, following a remarkable 2009-2010 season is the Club's captain and its defensive rock. Dawson excels at playing long diagonal balls out of the back to our target men and these have often been the catalyst for Tottenham goals. Dawson has been a fixture at the back for Tottenham Hotspur since his arrival and while the defense may not have always been at its best these last few years, it was often Dawson who put in stellar performances at the back.
Our Best XI manager, Harry Redknapp, would be pleased with the leadership we have in our squad thus far. Ledley King and Michael Dawson are excellent additions to the team and while help make the defense solid.
