Good Monday morning friends. Congratulations to Mexico on their Gold Cup victory. And let me just say that I was very impressed with Dos Santos' play. I have written many many times about how I do not think that Dos Santos is any good, he made me a believer on Saturday. He will now, of course, be sold at a discounted price.
And now the news
Before we rend our garments, lets make sure we understand that in no way does it say anywhere "Harry must sell Modric" or "Harry must sell Bale" before buying. What it means is that we have a big squad and we need to trim down a lot before we can add new players. This is due to the new restrictions on squad size. It means that Daniel Levy is not releasing any funds to buy new players. so no new direct investment. Bad news if you were hoping for a 30 million pound signing. Also I expect this means Dos Santos, who just ripped the USMNT to shreds (evidence here), is likely on his way out, Keane and Bentley will also be sold for cut rate prices.
Come on really? We have to fend of the vultures for Bale, Modric AND Lennon? This transfer window is depressing. And I shudder to think of what Liverpool would look like with Lennon making runs in addition to Suarez.
No word yet on a transfer fee but this seems like a nice fit for a nice young man. Happy trails.
Hmmm, linked again to another central midfielder. A position we are stacked at. Ugh is it July yet? When does the Tour De France start? Something needs to happen soon.
What's happening around SB Nation after the jump
I didn't get to see this live unfortunately, but just reading twitter updates in my car was scaring me. I don't need to scold the Argentinean FA or the police or the fans, the pictures say it all. Its horrifying. Its sad.
I don't want any belly aching this week about lack of soccer to watch, the Women's World Cup is awesome. This isn't like basketball where the men's and women's games look nothing alike. The play is awesome. And there is literally no diving, so no complaining you chauvinistic pigs.
I take umbrage sir! Sure this was Ching's first goal in 400 minutes, but even a blind squirrel can find a nut especially against my beloved DC united who have a defensive line made up of Swiss cheese and teenagers. And lets not forget when Ching took a dive in the box that even Charlie Davies would be ashamed of, to draw a penalty (skip to 2:30 of the video)
Barcalona don't need Fabregas, I am not even sure they want him. I think the driving force behind the Fabregas to Barcelona rumors is how much Fabregas wants to play for them and little else. Here is the thing, I don't know if you have heard but Barcelona are kind good already. Then again it would feel great if this happened. I know I would get a good chuckle out of seeing Cesc on the bench every game.
