Good Wednesday morning dear friends. Another preseason game is in the books and we are another day closer to the first game of the season. This time around there was more positive play from the boys, and fewer glaring errors. Let's hope that trend continues from now through the next season.
And now the "news"
"Modric Is World Class"-John Terry-Sky Sports
It's nice to see that John Terry can make the most basic analysis. Perhaps he can now also make the connection between sleeping with another man's girlfriend and being an asshole.
Your Daily Example Of Shoddy Reporting And Expert Rumor Mongering-Daily Mail
Look! A 45 word "article" containing zero facts or attributable quotes. Normally, things like this don't drive me insane, but this does. Mostly because yesterday the Daily Mail had a story that seemed pretty plausible, and today they returned to just making things up. Hey, it's only the news, not like it matters in the grand scheme of things!
Nottingham Forrest Keen On Keane-Footy Bunker
This will not happen. In fact I would say nothing in this article is based on solid fact. Nottingham Forrest do not have the money to pay Keane's astronomical wages. Keane will not choose to go to a Championship side. And Forrest do not face "huge" competition for Robbie's signature since nobody really wants him.
What's happening around SB Nation after the jump
Did The USWNT Choke?-SB Nation Soccer
The short answer is no, they did not choke. But really, it's more complicated than that. The US ladies were a powerful team to be sure, entering this installment of the Women's World Cup but they were not favored to win or to reach the finals. So in essence they exceeded pre tournament expectations. However against a team like Japan they really should have won, and won handily. The opportunities were there and many many players put on career performances (Rapinoe, Wambach, Morgan). However certain players put in efforts they will want very much to forget, but will undoubtedly never be able to. Sadly I am looking at you Hope Solo.
Just When You Thought Things Around Tevez Couldn't Get Any Weirder...-SB Nation Soccer
So Manchester City claim that Tevez has been sold to Corinthians for 40 million pounds. That in and of itself is shocking. But Corinthians are saying that they don't think a deal is done. Normally this would be ridiculous, but seeing as it involves Carlos Tevez it seems par for the course, nothing involving him is ever simple, and nothing is ever set in stone.
Your Mexican Premera Team Previews: UANL Tigres-FMF State Of Mind
I know nothing about the Mexican league. But site founder, SB Nation World Football Editor, my boss, and all around renaissance man Kevin McCauley does. And after months of hearing him talk about how awesome the football is I have decided that this season I am going to give it a shot. I suggest you join me on this journey into the unknown. And as some nice preseason prep you should be reading his series of team by team previews. Since sometimes it helps to know something about the league and how it works before you dive in head first.
