Bongani Khumalo Officially Joins Reading On Loan From Tottenham Hotspur

We reported that Bongani Khumalo was likely to go on loan with nPower Championship club Reading earlier in the day, but that move has now been made official. The official website of Tottenham Hotspur has announced that the South African international is off to the second division, presumably because he wasn't going to get much playing time at White Hart Lane this season.

This is a good move for Khumalo's career and I'm pretty confident that he's going to develop into a good Championship player this year. Khumalo seems to be on the right track towards either becoming a very reliable backup for us or being a player that we can sell for a profit.

A quick look at Reading's roster shows us that Khumalo has a very good chance to win a starting job from day one. 22-year-old Scotland Under-21 international and likely future full Scotland international Alex Pearce is probably the best candidate to start for Reading other than Khumalo. 20-year-old Sean Morrison, 22-year-old Shaun Cummings, and 19-year-old Michael Hector are all far from established, and Khumalo should be able to beat them for playing time.

If he doesn't get hurt, Khumalo's going to get a chance to start 40ish games in the Championship, which is a good thing for both Spurs and Reading.
