Today marks the first day of preseason training for Tottenham Hotspur. Most of the Spurs squad was in attendance, minus the players on international duty. The players, as is customary in the preseason, did plenty of running and not too much work with the ball. The Club's first friendly will be in Johannesburg against Kaizer Cheifs on July 16 and the opening match of the Premier League campaign is August 13 at White Hart Lane against Everton.
The official site has some pretty good pictures from training here. Everyone looks to be in good spirits, which is odd because doing all that running is generally pretty boring and really not all that fun. Looking at the pictures I don't see any sign of new signing Brad Friedel, but goalkeepers don't really need to work on their fitness, so he may not be working with the rest of the squad during some of these drills.
I know most of has had hoped that by the time the team had returned from holiday there would have been at least a few changes, but as it stands the only departures have been Jonathan Woodgate and Jamie O'Hara and the aforementioned Friedel the only addition. Hopefully, in the coming weeks the club manages to be a little more active and training has a few more new faces.
