Tottenham Hotspur Transfer News: Robbie Keane Completes Move To MLS

After days of speculation and rumor it is finally offical. Tottenham Hotspur has agreed to a deal to sell Robbie Keane to the LA Galaxy. Terms of the deal were not released by Tottenham Hotspur. More news on the transfer was available from the LA Galaxy site:

I am delighted, honored and very excited to be joining the LA Galaxy,” Keane said. “I have always wanted to come and play in MLS so it’s the perfect combination for me and a dream come true. My family and I have already been made to feel very welcome in telephone calls from Tim Leiweke and Bruce Arena. Also when David Beckham came and trained at Spurs recently he couldn't speak highly enough about the Galaxy, their fans and the league in general, so I can’t wait to get over and get started.

Per MLS policy and in keeping with what we have seen from Spurs no news on the fee or length of the contract were made available. Keane was, for quite some time, one of the best players at Tottenham Hotspur, but he has been in decline in recent years. In more than 300 games with the club Keane scored 122 goals.

The move leaves Spurs with only three first-team strikers for the forseeable future. While having some new cash in the coffers will be nice, it's doubtful the fee will make a dent in any sort of demands for the new striker many fans are clamoring for.
