Remember when I said I was done writing about Luka Modric rumors? Well, fine folks of the Cartilage Free Captain community...I lied to you. You see, I thought I was done. But last night, while recording the latest episode of Wheeler Dealer Radio, SB Nation Soccer community manager Graham MacAree instant messaged me with a story from The Telegraph. It says that Luka Modric essentially told Daniel Levy to eff off in a meeting and that he's refusing to play for Spurs ever again. It also says that Chelsea are weighing up a £40 million bid.

FOURTY MILLION POUNDS? Well, that's more like it! Though it's a little too late in the transfer window to secure an adequate replacement (in theory), that's a whole lot of money. Probably a little more than Luka's worth, and the price at which almost all of us said we'd be willing to let him go.

The problem with all of this, of course, is that it's probably rubbish. Harry Redknapp says that we won't be selling him and that he should be available against City, but then again, 90 percent of what Harry says is also rubbish.

This isn't over. It won't be over until September 1.
