Tottenham Hotspur Team News: Modric Fit To Face Manchester City, Plus Other Injury Info

I'm not sure how much of this is posturing and how much of this is actual truth, but the Tottenham Hotspur official site is reporting that Spurs midfielder Luka Modric has recovered from his hamstring "injury" and will be fit enough to face Manchester City on Sunday at White Hart Lane.

Both Kyle Walker and Jermaine Jenas could be fit as well after having recovered from a virus that kept both of the second leg of our Europa League tie with Hearts. Unfortunately, Spurs will still be without the services of Ledley King, William Gallas, Peter Crouch, Sandro, Wilson Palacios, Steven Pienaar, and Danny Rose.

If Modric is healthy enough to go I expect we'll see him in the center of midfield partnered with Tom Huddlestone, who may also be facing some fitness issues. Not to knock Jake Livermore, but I'd almost rather see Jenas in this game simply because of how important the midfield is going to be. Of course, I only want to see Jenas if either Huddlestone or Modric cannot go.

The unavailability of Crouch is perhaps the biggest detriment to the team as we will now be forced to either partner Jermain Defoe or Roman Pavlyuchenko with Rafael van der Vaart. I'm sure Defoe will get the nod this weekend.
