That's right ladies and gentlemen. The Luka Modric transfer saga has, allegedly, gone the way of the Wicked Witch of the West. According to BBC Sports "Journalist" David Ornstein who tweeted the following a little bit ago
Opinion on Luka Modric seems to have shifted towards being in favor of his departure following the revelation that he asked Harry Redknapp not to play on Sunday against Manchester City. The club certainly could have used the money that the sale of Modric would have raised, but it's not so bad to have a player of his quality around for the rest of the season.
I don't know if I believe that this deal is actually dead, it's more than likely just the calm before the storm. But it's encouraging, at least to those of us who would prefer the Croatian playmaker stick around a little longer. The folks over at We Ain't Got No History seem to believe that Chelsea are pursuing other cheaper options and if none of those work out they may well come back to Modric. I'm inclined to agree.
