We're all giddy about what Tottenham Hotspur might do in the transfer market on deadline day, but just important as what we do is what our rivals do. Liverpool have done quite a bit to improve this offseason, but they're probably not quite done making moves. Arsenal have gone backwards with the sales of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri, but they're in the process of softening those blows and strengthening other areas of the team. Here's a quick look at what's gone down in the last couple of days and what should go down today.

Arsenal FC Transfers

-South Korean international striker Park Chu-Young has joined from AS Monaco. Park has a solid goal scoring record and has a fantastic work rate.

-Central defender Per Mertesacker of Werder Bremen will officially move to Arsenal in the morning, or so we hear. The 6'6" giant has been capped 75 times for Germany.

-Rennes defensive midfilder Yann M'Vila is linked to a last minute move to the club. Defensive midfield isn't Arsenal's biggest area of need and the player has said he wants to stay at Rennes for one more year, but if Wenger can make this happen, he's getting one of the hottest properties in world football.

-Fans are still hopeful that Eden Hazard or another high-quality wide player will join. Heaven knows they need one.

-One of their two out of favor/form strikers, Marouane Chamakh or Nicklas Bendtner, should depart

Liverpool FC Transfers

-20-year-old Uruguayan central defender Sebastian Coates signed yesterday. He had a fantastic Copa America and has been great for Nacional in Uruguay. He won't start immediately, but it won't be long before he's first choice at Anfield. The kid is a top talent.

-All of Stuart Downing, Jordan Henderson, Jose Enrique and Charlie Adam arrived earlier in the transfer window. While all seemed slightly overpriced, all of them are looking very good so far.

-A lot of people think that they are still going to sign a striker. Couldn't tell you who to save my life.

-Alberto Aquilani is off to AC Milan, while Raul Meireles has been linked to both Chelsea and Tottenham, among other teams. We'll have something up on him later.

At present, Tottenham are looking like the sixth most talented team in the Premier League. Let's see what Harry Redknapp and Daniel Levy to in an attempt to change that.
