Harry Redknapp has made his final stand. First there was no way that Luka Modric was going anywhere, according to the Tottenham Hotspur manager. Then the club could be strengthened by selling him. That led to Redknapp saying that he wasn't sure if Spurs would hold onto the midfielder or see him go to Chelsea. Now he has guaranteed that Modric will stay at White Hart Lane.
"Obviously there's been all the talk about Luka but the chairman has held firm and he's not for sale," Redknapp told Sky Sports News. "So he's not going, which is great. That won't happen, no chance. One million percent - that will not happen."
Of course, this is Harry Redknapp so he can change his mind again, but with the clock counting down to the transfer window closing, it looks more and more like Modric will be staying with Spurs. That will be a relief to Spurs supporters who would like nothing more than to get their top player back in the team and without the distraction of a move.
There is still time before the transfer window closes though. Things could change. New reports will definitely be released and Harry Redknapp will undoubtedly speak three of 32 more times. It just wouldn't be right if the Luka Modric saga ended prematurely. Down to the wire we go!
