We've been hoping for a David Bentley sale for a while, and Sky Sports thinks that it's about to come. According to the constantly updating outlet, the England international winger is "close to a move" to West Ham United. This seems both plausible and not plausible for a number of reasons.
First of all, why it's plausible. Bentley is not wanted at Spurs at the moment and he almost certainly has no place in Harry Redknapp's squad. He's been a disappointment since he's arrived from Blackburn Rovers and is on absolutely insane wages for a backup. Based on his performances in recent years, the Championship is about his level.
However, even if Bentley were to cut his wages in half, he'd probably be too expensive for West Ham United. This deal is only going to happen if Bentley is going because he wants to make sure he plays first team football every week and he doesn't care about money at all.
